Watch Me Grow - 18 Months

I am full swing into toddlerhood....and lovin' it! Can't say the same for my folks! But hey they're learning to deal with it. I like to call it "Battle of the Wills"-- you win some, you lose some!

So....where shall I start....

18 Months Progress:
Stats:22lb 4 in, 32 inches
Development:
- Have about a 20-word vocabulary. Use it when I want to.
-Sometimes even make 2 word sentences.
My 2 favorite words, "Mama, milk."
My 2nd favorite word "NO!"
Other favorites are "Doggie, Bub-ble, and Book"
-Starting to repeat things (watch what you say, you'll never know when I might repeat ya)!
-Hand eye-coordination improving daily. I can swing a bat and hit a ball off the T. (And you know Daddy is proud. He has show everyone that comes over)!
-Climbing on, off, out of everything...not even that crib can hold me down! I like to escape during dinner--out of my chair, across the table, down into a chair, and on to the floor (all while my Mommy's back is turned)!
-Improved balance - I practice my stunts by standing on my motorcycle seat!
-Go down slide sitting up (I used go down head first on my tummy)!
-Know a few body parts-can't say'em yet except "nose", but I know where they are.
-Mouthing nursery rhymes (we think)!
-Trying to count (1, 2, 3...is about all I got for now, the rest I make up)!

Fun Facts & Other Interesting Things:
-Went to a few more parties over the summer: godbro and sis had b-days. Got to ride the train at my godbro's party; had fun at Gabrielle's party at Golfland. That's me and Ian sippin' on a cold one waiting for the train.

-Went to Children's Discovery Museum--had lots of fun! Check out my wetsuit. My first Picasso, I must concentrate!

-Saw a few old girlfriends: Gabrielle (different one from the party) and Zoe. They came all the way to Cali from Texas and Atlanta to see me!

- I go biking w/ my parents sometime. I sit in the front where I can see everything. It's a lot of fun! One time I fell asleep on a long ride thru Coyote Trail. I'm helping Daddy fix the bike. One good wack w/ the hammer and we'll be ready to ride!

Safety first Daddy!

Must have my shades!

-I'm sitting forward facing in the car now! They finally bought me a "Big-little persons" seat! So Mommy has moved back to the front seat! Mommy let me borrow her sunglasses to keep the sun out of my eyes!

-I'm trying to figure out what is the point of this "Time-out chair!" They say if I don't straighten up, then they will keep putting me there.

Watch Me Grow - 14 - 15 months (June 2007)

Heck, I thought I might be running by the time my folks got out the next update! I guess since we have so much going on...I'll post updates once a quarter. My schedule is hectic w/ all the birthday parties, bbqs, etc!

15 Month Progress:
Stats: 22lb 5 oz, 30 in long
Development:
-I'm learning to walk steady on uneven pavement.
-I'm starting that whole Erikson's Life Stage of: Autonomy vs Shame & Doubt (whatever that means)! All I know is that I like trying to do things for myself...which can bring a little drama if they don't let me!
-I like going from sitting on a chair, stairs, etc to standing (It's so funny, I do it over and over)

My new favorite chair!

-I learned how to turn around in circles, shake my head back and forth, fanning hand back and forth to push away when I don't want something.
-I can toss a ball (If she would just pass it to me... girl cousins, huh)!
-I can kick a ball

-Put the basketball in the hoop
-I'm really learning to imitate: cooking, cleaning (and you know these 2 wont' last), shaking hands.

-Help dress/undress self
-Starting to indicate basic wants(I've been doing this for some time--they're just now figuring out what I'm saying)!

-I'm getting over the separation anxiety (but you know my Mom is still my favorite person)!

-Eat like a champ (I love chicken)!

-Got my first set of choppers (top molars came in--that was a trip)!

-I like playing w/ the kids at my sitters house...I'm really warming up...when I see new little people, I move closer and watch for a while, and then I decide if I want to play beside them...cuz you know we don't play together at this stage!
-Scribbling on paper
-Climb downstairs (since the gate is not up yet...they're watching me like a hawk)!
-I can push and pull toys, chairs, etc! My favorite is this lawnmower that makes sounds just like a real one (not that I've seen my Dad cut the yard, so I assume that's what it would sound like)!
-I like carrying on make believe conversations on the phone (any phone, cell, house, Elmo phone) doesn't matter! My parents always in my biz...wanna know what I'm talking about!

-So I'm cruising on into toddlerhood! Trippin' my parents out! Got a little attitude. I can really get'em rowled up (but I like to kid around)! I get the face and fake cry going, but I can't hold it for long b/c it trips me out and my folks and we all end up laughing! Man, they're on to my tactics! Guess I'll have to come up w/ something new soon! That's what happened in this picture...I had to throw a tantrum in the store....and you see I got my keys and my phone...I'm good to go!

Fun Facts & Other Interesting Things:
-Things have been pretty cool. Now that it's warm outside, I get to go the park almost every day. I go down the street and meet up w/ some of my friends while my parents small talk w/ the other grown folks! Here I am chillin' in my ride before me and Daddy head off to the pool. Daddy's giving me my 1st swim lesson!

I really just like watching the little tube of sunblock float in the water. That was pretty cool!

- Went to my 1st baseball game...yep...saw uncle Torii's team beat the A's! I was blowing the whistle to get the umps attention!

-I stayed a whole day w/ my godma and godbro and sis so that my parents could get away for their Anniversary. They said they had a blast at the beach w/o me! Can you believe that? That's fine b/c I had a blast too. I didn't know my toys were so much fun until my godbro ( who is almost 3) showed me the ropes!

-So I'm still sleeping about the same schedule...I guess I'm just used to waking up in the middle of the night so I can see my peeps! Just checkin' that they're still home! Yeah, b/c one time I work up and there were these strange looking people there????
I guess they're my parents reincarnated in the 70's?

-Went to a few birthday parties...at one of them I got to get in one of those big jumpie things for the first time...that was pretty cool! Also got to try out my skills as a gymnast (my Daddy's childhood/today dream)!

Mommy let me go...I need to get in the jumpy house where the other kids are!

-My motorcycle rocker is more fun now...I'm really getting the hang of making it rock back and forth.
- Went to see my Grandma down in LA. She let's me try all kinds of stuff...strawberry-lemonade, etc! Mommy just grins and bare it!

-They say I'm picking up things so fast now...I learn something new everyday!
- Got to meet my cousin--Preacher man! He's a child prodigy. He wasn't to happy about me sneaking up on his pulpit during his sermon!

You see Aunt Didi trying to make me act right...Whatever!

Ok...so the big #1 Birthday Month--was a busy one with lots of action! Check it...

"Um, um..so this is cake!"

12 Month Progress:

  • I can wave "bye-bye"
  • Got more teeth
  • Making more sentences (jibberish that my parents don't seem to understand)!
  • I can drink from a straw
  • Took my first steps

Fun Facts & Other Interesting Things:

  • Ok.. so I started the Birthday month off still fighting off that stinking flu bug, but hey I'm a fighter. Also working on getting most of my primary incisors in too! This first year...can be a beast!
  • I went to Children's Church at JCC for the first time. I guess you could say that I enjoyed it--They didn't have to use the pager to call Mommy!
  • Kinda jumped out of my crib in the middle of the night (when they didn't come get me shortly after I called (cried) for them! I was on my way to find them, but it was dark! Imagine the look on Daddy's face when he came into my room and saw me on the floor (tee, hee)! Needless to say, I got their attn. But dang, it backfired...they lowered my matress even more, so now it's too hard for me to get my leg up there to crawl out! Just wait... a few more inches (sometime this summer). You know I am an expert climber (I didn't say walker)!
  • I went to a play & music class at Gymboree on my birthday (Checking out the joint before I host my first party)!

"Not feeling so good now"

"FIRE!@#?"

  • GOT MY FIRST HAIRCUT! Ok...let's call it a trim. I guess it turned out ok. Glad Daddy realized (and Mommy strongly advised him) that clippers wasn't the way to go on my hair and got out the scissors!

"Sportin' my fro"

"Use these combs"
"NO, NO haircut!"

"Rockin' my new cut"

  • Went to see theSNOW in Lake Tahoe for the FIRST TIME w/ the GPs (Godparents & Lauren & Jordan) We had fun. Enjoyed my FIRST SLED RIDE w/o falling off. It was pretty cool (literally)! Oh Yeah GPs, sorry about the "noisy" ride to Tahoe!

  • "Where are you guys?"
    "We didn't do it!"

    "Fun in the snow"
  • OK...so the BIG Party at Gymboree.....so much fun! I had a blast (though my temperament earlier that day had Mommy worried. I was just hungry--she should have figured that out)! You know I'm talking more...they're just not understanding what I'm saying!

  • "Auntie I was hungry"

    "Gather 'round--My new favorite chair"
    "Chillin w/ my peeps"
    "Kiss, kiss Gymbo?"

  • Nanna, Papa, & Auntie Didi arrived that Thursday and we got movin & shakin from then until they left! I must say...I was much more pleasant this time! Don't get me wrong...I still had my moments!

  • I ate CAKE for the FIRST TIME.

  • I DEDICATED my life to the Lord for the FIRST TIME! (I think the ceremony went rather smoothly--I was quiet the entire time (NO, I was not asleep)! It was when we went back to our seats that I decided to get rowdy! I wanted to say what I didn't get to say on stage!

  • I ate CAKE FOR THE SECOND TIME at my Baby Dedication brunch after church. It was great seeing everyone. I'll tell you I really do appreciate all of the love and support!

  • This birthday thing...has been a blasts. I think I'd like to do this again next year! I'm like my Mommy--love gifts! Got some new fly threads to update my wardrobe, some cool toys that I'll play w/ when I outgrow them.--for now I'm into the everyday things like pens, cups, letter openers, water bottles! You know!
  • I've also been booked for so many events...I have party after party lined up. Older girls and everything! Thanks for keeping up my calendar Mommy...You keep me socialized!
  • Oh...did I mention that I took a few steps (just wanted to get my Peeps all excited. I'm not ready to quite make the transition to full walking...then they won't carry me all the time)! I'm not crazy!
  • First I would like to thank God for giving my parents the grace to make it through this first year. Next, I want to thank all of my fans ( I mean family and friends) for coming out to support me. You have made this first year of life truly special! I couldn't have done it with out you. Thanks Auntie Julie & cuz Klarissia for driving down, Nanna, Papa, Auntie Didi & Dee for flying out for all of my special ocassions! You guys are the best. I know Mommy promises to live closer to you one day so that you don't have to take a flight just to see me. Hey, I'm too young to move on my on...so I suggest you guys put the pressure on if you want to see me more often!

I love you all very much. Thanks again for all the great gifts, cards, money, words of encouragement, hugs, kisses, etc.--for just being there!

You'll have to check out the Yahoo photos to see all of the party shots!

  • I am on cruise control

Fun Facts & Other Interesting Things:

  • So this month was the peak of the flu season...and boy did WE get it. Looking back...it's a wonder how we made it over! Poor Mommy & Daddy...they couldn't handle it. They were sicker than they had ever been (so they tell me)!
  • On top of the flu virus, my teeth were coming in too. There were a few days that I actually enjoyed during the month of February. Hence, the picture of me and Ernie at Wal-mart. I noticed him and Burt on my way out--so I decided to say what's up and get a ride w/ them!
  • Still going to my play & music class at Gymboree. It's pretty cool, when I'm feeling up to it!

Tuesday, February 06, 2007

Well Folks that's all for now! I'll check back in w/ you in a few months. Maybe shortly after the BIG 1-0! Oh yeah...I'm sure you've all been wondering and some commenting about my hair styles....Well what can I say...gotta mixture of my Momma & Daddy's hair. We've tried the Samurai ponytail, braiding...it won't stay! So they are debating on whether to cut it at 1.0! Dad says "No", Mom says "Yes"...We'll see.

Watch Me Grow - 10 Months

10 Months and counting....

"Chillin' on my ride"

  • I also went to a Gymboree Play & Music class last weekend. That was cool. I wasn't feeling well, so I hung out for a bit, then I had to get away. Besides most of them cats were walkers (must have been a little older than me)! However I did enjoy the smaller Music class later that morning. I love the maraca's!
  • Oh Yeah...Mommy booked my birthday party at Gymboree too! Surprise, surprise!
  • I Love to call out "Mama" and "Dada" when I'm looking for them (or when I want to)! I even said "Bye, Bye" a couple of times. I think I'll be a great communicator (when I want to)! I should be as much as my folks like to talk!
